The Uganda Law Society president, Simon Peter Kinobe has urged Ugandans not to hesitate from uttering out their opinions against anyone be it the president because Uganda is a free and democratic society.

Kinobe says the recent arrests made on individuals accused of annoying the president are executed by over-ambitious police officers and an abuse of the law.

The lawyer argues that part of the president’s duty is to be annoyed adding that President Museveni cannot be petty to that extent of ordering for the arrest of individuals that attack him.

“That section of annoying the president in the Computer Misuse Act is unconstitutional. What that particular section takes away is fair comment?” Kinobe wondered.

According to Kinobe, Uganda already has enough laws regulating communication adding that the available laws have what is permissible and what is not.

“Kabuleta’s post was fair comment. I don’t see anything wrong with his rant,” he says.
