Muhammad Tanko, the newly Appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria has just made the Joke of The Year contender while appearing before the Nigerian Senate.

Muhammad was supposed to submit his primary school certificate to the Nigerian Senate last week but he made no appearance. With need to be affirmed as the Supreme Court head, Muhammad this week decided to show up and claimed that termites ate his primary school certificate.

“No portion of the certificate was salvaged,” Muhammad said.

It is said that in the past, Muhammad has been always accused of falsifying documents. Early this year, a complainant against Muhammad’s documents told court of how he (Muhammad) lied about his age by altering his birth date from December 31, 1950, to December 31, 1953 which Muhammad denied.

Nevertheless, Muhammad is no stranger in the judicial system of Nigeria having been appointed as judge at the Jos Division of the Court of Appeal in 2002. He later became a Supreme Court judge in 2007. The Nigerian Senate endorsed him as the head of the judiciary on July 17.
