Former Leader of Opposition, Prof Ogenga Latigo has given his honest but outrageous opinion about the future of Uganda. Ogenga claims that due to the fact that President Museveni has been in power for three decades now; it is his decision on transition of power which holds more meaning than the people or opposition trying to influence it.

“The future of this country is intimately tied to what President Museveni plans for his future. It is less about people and more about his decisions,” Ogenga said.

“If he decides to have decent politics, we shall have a peaceful transition. We need to speak truth to Ugandans because that is the foundation of our lives,” he added.

The current desire for change has left the opposition with only one option of ganging up for a coalition according to Ogenga.

“That’s the only option. None of us in the opposition can galvanize change,” he stated.

However, he expressed that some members in the opposition also fear change.

“The reaction you see from opposition leaders towards People Power is a manifestation of fear. The traditional leaders fear change, unfortunately, that’s the universal behaviour of the people in our country including the president (Museveni),” Ogenga revealed.

He asserts that even the newly proposed electoral reforms will not be of help if the country continues to be disunited on the common direction we want to take.
