Ugandan musicians have in the past sought to widen their audience by making collaborations with international artistes, a move that has made the Ugandan sound make a presence on airwaves in different countries in Africa and the world at large.

Just yesterday, we reported a possible collaboration between Universal Music Group Africa’s new member Irene Ntale with Nigerian crooner Nonso Amadi, and we are now glad to break it to you that another Ugandan artiste, rapper Daniel Kigozi alias Navio already has something in the studio with Nigerian star Skales.

Skales was in the country last weekend where he performed at the 23rd edition of Blankets and Wine, and we are thinking that’s where he met arguably Uganda’s most successful rapper Navio to discuss plans of having a joint project together.

Navio shared the news of their upcoming project on his Instagram page with a photo captioned, “Future Focus Fam with Navio x Skales […].”

Skales confirmed the collaboration in a comment he made on the photo saying, “Can’t wait till you hear what I did my gee.”

Such collaborations are important for the growth of the African music industry, as musicians share their experiences, knowledge and expertise with each other, creating music that can be played all over the continent.

Skales has worked with Ugandan musicians like Beenie Gunter and Cindy “The King Herself” in the past.
