Makerere University Management Communication has released a statement refuting any possible increment in the students’ fees structure.

For the past two days, Mak students have engaged in demonstrations at their campus and areas around the university (Wandegeya and Kikoni).  Students claim to be protesting against fees increment.

“Every student joins the University with a Fees structure and continues with that Fees structure until they complete. The Management thus wishes to state it clearly that there has been no fees increment at Makerere University this Academic Year,” reads part of the University statement.

The University alleges that students adopted the ‘ill’ trick just to apparently strategize and position themselves for the next Guild elections.

However, the management has issued a warning saying, “We wish to warn all those errant students that a return to hooliganism at Makerere will not be tolerated and they should concentrate on their studies.”
