Malian singer Habib Koité and his Bamada band to arrive on Friday for the Mizizi Sounds of the Nile

Popular Malian musician and songwriter Habib Koité and his Bamada band are set to arrive in Uganda this Friday, November 22 ahead of their performances at the second edition of the Mizizi Sounds of the Nile cultural festival.

The three-day event will run from Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24 at the Mizizi cultural hub in Kiryandongo district.

According to the organisers, Habib and Bamada band will set foot in Uganda on Friday morning at 1:55 am and they will travel straight to Katurikire, Kiryandongo District where the event will be happening.

Besides his intimate and relaxed vocal style, Koité is known for his unique approach to playing the guitar as he plays it on open strings. Some of his notable songs include; Foro Bana, I kabarra and Din dinwo among others.

The event will also be graced by other exceptional performers that include Okello Kelo Sam, Cindy Sanyu, Namatovu Cissy, Lucky Dee and other local cultural troupes.
