Today, December 27, 2019, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has kicked off a recruitment process that will go on until January 5, 2020.

UPDF seeks to recruit over 4000 officers in different sections of the army, all over the country with regular officers aged between 19-25, and professionals between 18-30 years.

Regular recruits are required to have a minimum of O’Level education education, and professionals must possess a degree or diploma in Medicine, Chemistry or engineering.

Thousands of Ugandans who feel they fit into the desired recruitment criteria and possess the set qualifications have already turned up at different recruitment centers like Kololo Independence grounds, Mpigi district headquarters, Lyandonde, Masaka district headquarters, and Rukungirir, and Kotido among others.

“As the recruitment exercise into UPDF begins today, there is already an early massive turn up at the centres. Many Ugandans are showing determination to be active members of this people’s army. We thank the youths for this enthusiasm and spirit of patriotism to serve our country in the noble military profession,” said the UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Richard Kalemire, adding that peace and stability must be sustained to achieve social economic transformation.

Other requirements include a clean criminal record, being single with no children to avoid family distraction, medically and physically fit, and must of course, be citizens of Uganda.
