President Museveni leads hundreds in ‘Africa Kwetu’ trek from Wakiso to Kibaale district, a distance of 195km

Today, President Museveni has led hundreds of trekkers in a walk from Galamba in Wakiso District to Birembo in Kibaale District, a distance estimated to be 195km.

The trek dubbed ‘Africa Kwetu’ is aimed at highlighting the sacrifice of freedom fighters that ushered this government into power in 1986 after the liberation war.

Evens promoter Balaam is these days closer to the President than his bdyguards.

Museveni addressed a congregation of hundreds of participants about the objectives of the liberation war before setting off for the trek and why this walk is so important to recognise the effort put in to see to it that Ugandans get peace.

“You are walking for two reasons; Education purposes, and to know what exactly the NRA fighters went through, so we can learn to respect and appreciate them more,” Museveni said in his address.

Participants in this historic trek include veterans, political figures, minsters, musicians, patriots, freedom fighters and bazzukulu.

Presidential Advisor on Kampala Affairs Catherine Kusasira is one o the participants.

The trek will go through districts of Wakiso (starting point), Nakaseke, Mityana, Kiboga, Kassanda, Kakumiro and end in Kibaale on January 10, 2019.
