The gifted performers spiced the Ugandan Night-themed event with a cocktail of traditional classics and a repertoire of notable covers.

Clad in black, yellow, and red vibrant outfits, the guests coloured the venue with a touch of the national flag colours while Uganda’s funniest man Patrick Idringi Salvado had everyone in stitches for the better part of the night.

The competition which teed off as early as 8am saw the 64 pairs that qualified for the first round throng the Entebbe golf course in a bid to secure slots in the second round of The Singleton Challenge that will take place on March 14. By the day’s end, half of those who competed had made it.

Defending champions Richard Lutwama and Robert Busingye, who relished the Dubai Desert Classic in January, retained their spots maintaining their hopes of another trip come 2021. They were not the only winners though, as the five best dressed golfers per the “Ugandan Night” theme were rewarded with a Singleton bottle each at the dinner.

It was a Uganda theme night.

UBL’s Head of Luxury Whisky Portfolio Annette Nakiyaga congratulated all the golfers that made it to the second round.

“As we buckle up for yet another exceptional golf experience, we affirm our continued support to the sport of golf, not forgetting our outstanding 19th hole that continues to craft lasting impressions for golf lovers,” she said.

Winning pairs from every month will advance to the subsequent rounds slated for March 14, April 18, May 9 and June 20. The grand finale is scheduled for July 18.

Such a beautiful smile.

The winning pair will get a fully-paid trip to watch the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic, a series which has welcomed world class golfers including Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson.

There will also be business class return air tickets for the first and second runner-up pairs, as well as the winners of the subsidiary events in the men’s and ladies’ categories. A Mitsubishi Pajero Sport also awaits any golfer who manages a hole-in-one.

Other prizes include weekend stays at the Serena hotels, monthly subscription packages on DStv, golf accessories and HTC goodies.
