Retired Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has reportedly been arrested by the Special Forces Command (SFC) officers at his private office in Kololo.

The reasons for his arrest are still not clear as no official communication has been made regarding the arrest. Reports also indicate that there is heavy deployment near his home located on Impala Avenue in Kololo, Kampala.

Gen Tumukunde last week formally declared his intention to contest for Presidency in the upcoming 2021 general elections as he wrote to the Electoral Commission requesting to be allowed to carry out countrywide consultations.

The General further went on different media political talk shows vowing how he is ready to face off his former Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Museveni come 2021.

Earlier this week, Tumukunde personally went to the Police headquarters in Naguru and delivered a letter informing them about his consultative meetings. He urged them to follow the law and not interfere with his meetings.
