A few hours go, reports have been circulating that Rtd. Maj. Gen. Kasirye Ggwanga had been arrested by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) personnel and taken to UPDF headquarters in Mbuya.

The reason for his arrest, as per the unconfirmed reports, is that he refused to accept the two bodyguards that had been assigned to him by the UPDF.

UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire has come out to refute all the arrest reports, and clarified on what prompted them to take the outspoken bush war General to Mbuya, which is purely medical reasons.
