President of Tanzania John Magufuli has declared three days nationwide prayers that started yesterday on Friday. This is after the country recorded 53 new coronavirus infections on Friday.

Magufuli asked every faithful to pray for the country to overcome COVID-19 pandemic that has infected more than two million people globally.

The appeal for prayers comes as Tanzania cancelled this year’s April 26 national holiday commemorating the 1964 merger of Tanganyika and Zanzibar to become Tanzania.

Their Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa revealed that Magufuli ordered the Finance Ministry to redirect the $217,000 that was set aside for the holiday celebrations to go toward fighting the coronavirus in the country.
