As the 2021 elections loom, every move is political according to political players.  A month ago, government started easing on the COVID-19 lockdown as various businesses were allowed to resume.

Nevertheless, many are business are still locked up with government saying scientist have to first carry out a pilot study before they’re reopened. Arcades and boda bodas continued closure has attracted most mixed reactions with many urging that with existence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) government has no reason to keep them closed.

People Power spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi has revealed that the move to keep arcades, churches and boda boda none operational is deliberate.

“COVID19 is now more about politics than science. According to scientists, we should start adapting and finding ways around COVID19,” Ssenyonyi claims.

He adds; “Museveni doesn’t have an issue with worship places, boda bodas and arcades, but he knows Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) will visit all those places. That is why he continues to keep them locked up.”

Ssenyonyi says the unnecessary regulations are causing more harm because majority Ugandans are currently starving.

“We want an opening up, but with SOPs, people should follow. Because of desperation, people will start going out without SOPs,” he says.
