Boda Bodas in the country are set to be registered. While appearing on NTV today, the Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Works and Transport Susan  Kataike said that they want to be able to give the riders badges and uniforms for easy identification.

“Bodas Bodas are a good means of transport because they even reduce the number of cars in Kampala , the challenge is that they aren’t organised  and that’s what we want to streamline,” said Kataike

One of the boda boda riders from Namugongo stage that we spoke to said that their association chairpersons are in the process of registering them. He also said they will also be receiving money from government.

“We were told to register ourselves in groups of 30 people per group and each one of us was promised Shs1m to help us financially develop ourselves,” said the rider.

Boda Boda riders are among the people who were greatly affected by COVID 19 as business was put on a standstill.

After close to four months of slow business due to the government mitigation measures that were set to curb the Corona Virus, the President finally allowed the boda bodas to resume normal business on July 27.
