As Ugandans strive to get back on their feet following three months of lockdown, many are flouting the Presidential directives and measures set by the Ministry of Health to curb Covid 19.  While appearing on the National broadcaster Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), the Health Minister Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng has cautioned Ugandans to change their perspective on Covid 19.

“In the beginning when the Pandemic started everyone in Uganda was thinking about keeping alive at all costs, and everyone welcomed the measures and the Pandemic was our pandemic , the response was our response, Said Aceng

However Aceng says  the heavy toll the  lockdown had on the people has changed that perception from striving to live to survival.

“People are looking at what can I have in my pockets and how can I have food in my pockets. They have moved on from fear because they have not seen the worst situation in the country,” Said Aceng

The Lira city woman Member of Parliament hopeful also said that unless the people change their perception on Covid the country is moving to tough times.

“Death to them was a rumour, It happened at the neighbour’s house not in Uganda. The high number of cases happens with the neighbours not in Uganda but as I mentioned earlier we are moving to tough times Unless we change our perception ,reality will begin to strike and People will beg to be lock downed,” Aceng said
