Golden boy Joshua Cheptegei returns home, to be in self-isolation in his home town Kapchorwa

Ugandan World Champion Joshua Cheptegei has this evening returned back in the country after breaking the 5000m World Record in Monaco.

Today morning Cheptegei was received by the Uganda High Commission officials in Nairobi on his way back home. Together with his teammates Halima Nakaayi and Winnie Nanyondo, Cheptegei He was later moved to Malaba border point where he was received by the Ministry of Education and Sports officials.

Cheptegei who on Friday shattered the 16-year-old 5,000m world record at the Monaco Diamond League, in France, has missed the mass heroic welcome as he has gone into self-isolation in his home town, Kapchorwa as a mandatory precaution against the deadly coronavirus.
