The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine has revealed that the ministry is now struggling with surging numbers of COVID-19 infections in the country. Atwine says all hospitals at both national and regional level plus designated COVID-19 treatment centres have run out of space.

According to Atwine, the ministry has shifted to treating some COVID-19 patients from home.

“The shift to home care treatment is due to a lack of space in our hospitals and designated treatment centres. Patients who are able to isolate themselves from home requested us to be treated from there,” says Atwine. She reveals that the ministry is now looking for more designated treatment centres.
