Though People Power Movement is ready to challenge President Museveni in the 2021 elections, the youthful movement is anticipating a series of irregularities in the race according to its Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi.

Ssenyonyi says their ears are on the ground following Museveni closely and a lot of information about his plans for 2021 has been gathered.

“We know President Museveni is going to rig the election. He is already meeting people in the countryside. We are going into this election hoping that it is fair. If this election is stolen from Ugandans, we shall defend it,” says Ssenyonyi.

The former news anchor also explains why they are fronting their candidate despite the said ongoing negotiations in the opposition camp to try to agree on a sole candidate to stand against Museveni, he says, “As People Power we have to market our candidate as we think he has all it takes to put an end to Museveni’s three-decade rule.”

He believes it is time for the opposition to have a new face that will go against Museveni.

People Power yesterday announced how they had gone back to the drawing board to reschedule their consultation meetings after agreeing with Police and Electoral Commission.

“We hope that going forward, everything goes well,” Ssenyonyi says.
