Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) acting Executive Director Eng. Andrew Kitaka’s contract expired in December last year and it has been renewed for a period of six months by President Museveni, in exercise of powers vested in him by the Constitution of Uganda.

Catherine Bitarakwate, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service wrote to Kitaka last week to inform him about the renewal of his interim contract until June 18, 2020.

“I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency the President has, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Article 172 (1) (a) of the Constitution of Uganda directed that your appointment as KCCA Executive Director scale KCCA1 be extended for a period of six months with effect from December 18, 2019 to June18, 2020,” Bitarakwate wrote.

Kitaka was appointed into the acting role at the City Authority on December 20, 2018 by then Minister for Kampala Beti Kamya on President’s directives to replace Jennifer Musisi after tendering in her resignation.

Kitaka’s contract renewal comes at a time when the general public is not pleased with the current state of city roads, and the city seems to have become a mess of sorts.

If the President appoints a suitable Executive Director before the six months elapse, Kitaka’s reign will end immediately.
