Sad news coming in from Kenya reveals that former President Daniel Arap Moi is dead. President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a Presidential proclamation announcing the passing on of the retired President.

The former President died at the age of 95. Moi’s health situation has not been stable since he was rushed to Nairobi Hospital last year in October. Last month, doctors at the facility put him on life support machines. At the time, his spokesman Lee Njiru said the visit was for a normal check-up but since then he has been re-admitted four times.

Moi became President following the death of the then President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. He ruled Kenya for 24 years from 1978 to 2002.
