If you are one of those who have been thinking that Minister for Gender and Culture Peace Mutuuzo is about to call for an emergency presser and use it to take back what she said about elongation of the labia, you are going to wait a little longer because the lady from Kabarore District seems to be unmoved by the current storm directed towards her from all corners of the country.

Since Tuesday when she came out to warn those engaging in the cultural practise of ‘pulling’ to stop, cultural leaders and legislators have counterattacked her, urging her to apologise.

But Mutuuzo is not willing to ‘eat her vomit’ as she says, “I will not apologise for what I said because I did nothing wrong.” The minister says her warning was directed to only those who force young girls to do the practise.

Mutuuzo’s vow come at a time when popular Ssenga Justine Nantume is planning a demonstration around Kampala. Nantume believes that the Minister undermined the relevance of Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda and all the cultures that practise the act.
