Woes surrounding the arrest of retired Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde are continuing to expand as of now the family members running his social media accounts claim his son Amanya Nduhura Tumukunde will also be charged with treason.

“Whilst Hon Nyakecho and 12 others remain detained by police without charge, we now understand that Amanya Tumukunde Nduhura has also been charged with TREASON!” reads his post on various social media platforms.

The members also claim that all Gen Tumukunde’s homes and businesses including those at his ancestral home in Nyakiju, Rukungiri have been occupied by the army and police.

“No one is allowed in or out and any economic activity has been stopped. How petty can one get?” reads the post in part.

Amanya, his brother Philips Tumukunde, and other 12 people including Tororo North MP, Nyakecho Annet were arrested on Friday from Gen Tumukunde’s office in Kololo by a joint security agencies operation of the Military, Anti-Terrorism, and Police.

Police are yet to issue any statement, as Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said they have not been yet briefed about the progress of the investigations. He said, for now, the security agencies should be left to do their job.
