Sudhir presents his credentials as Nepalese consul to Uganda, opens consulate at Crane Chambers

Business mogul Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, now His Excellency, has this morning presented his credentials as the Nepalese Consul to Uganda to Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa.

Dr. Sudhir was accompanied by Nepalese Ambassador to Egypt Jhabindra Aryal and some Nepalese residents in Uganda.

Sudhir was appointed Nepalese Consul to Uganda by President Bidhya Devi Bhandarilast month.

In the wake of th coronavirus, there was no shaking hands as Sudhir presented his credentials.

“Honourable Minister, I have the honour to present to you the letters of appointment by which I have been appointed as honorary consul of Nepal to the Republic of Uganda,” Sudhir told Kutesa before presenting his credentials.

“Congratulations,” Kutesa said.

Sudhir’s delegation included Ambassador Jhabindra Aryal (3rd left) and Nepalese living in Uganda.

Ambassador Jhabindra then opened the Nepalese Consul office to Uganda at H.E Dr. Sudhir’s Crane Chambers in Kampala. 

An honorary consul is usually a citizen of a country, designated by a foreign government to look after the affairs of their citizens in foreign countries. Duties also involve issuance of visas and strengthening of economic and political ties within countries.

Sudhir and Ambassador Jhabindra cut the tape to open the Nepal Consulate office in Uganda.

Nepal is a top tourist destination famed for its Himalaya mountain ranges.

Last year, Dr. Sudhir visited Nepal. A known conservationist who supports the likes of Ngamba Chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda, he visited a baby elephant sanctuary in Kathmandu and also donated scholastic materials to orphans in the country.

H.E Sudhir and Amb. Jhabindra unveil the Nepalese consulate office in Uganda.

Dr. Sudhir is expected to host a cocktail at Kabira Country Club to toast to the achievement this evening.
