Coronavirus has made us become distant from our loved ones, but it has on the other hand brought communities together, including politicians getting closer to the public in an effort to fight the pandemic.

Musicians have united to compose songs, C.E.Os of different companies have donated essentials to the Ministry of Health to help them in the fight against coronavirus, and some politicians have followed suit.

One politician that has led through on the fight is Nakaseke MP Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula, who first offered Shs2 million to be deducted from his monthly salary to be used to fund the coronavirus budget.

Today, the outspoken MP has gone ahead to show his generosity as he has decided to donate food, money and water tanks for hand washing to taxi drivers, conductors and boda bod riders in his constituency of Nakaseke.

“I know that days are not easy now. I have decided to cut bunches of bananas from my gardens at Camp Luttamaguzi to give them to taxi drivers and conductors operating at Semuto, Nakaseke and Kapeka stages in Nakaseke. This Saturday morning, I believe each will take at least two bunches of bananas, and half sack of cassava,” Luttamaguzi posted on his official Facebook page.

In addition to food, Luttamaguzi has also given each taxi stage and boda boda stage in the townships of Semuto, Kapeka, and Nakaseke Shs500,000. This is in solidarity with these people whose source of livelihood, public transport, was suspended for 14 days by President Museveni to curb the spreading of coronavirus.

“It is time to give back to my voters of Nakaseke South. United against coronavirus we will stand, divided we will fall. Small things especially this time matter a lot. You don’t need to have much to help one another,” Luttamaguzi said.
