Police yesterday evening arrested Pastor Augustine Yiga of Revival Church Kawala over controversial statements he made in regards to the coronavirus pandemic. In a video that was aired on BBS Terefayina, Pastor Yiga said coronavirus does not exist in Uganda, what people are suffering from is just simple flu. He said the guidelines issued by President Museveni, Health Ministry, and World Health Organisation (WHO) are a waste of time.

While leading prayers that were live broadcasted on NBS TV, Worship Center Nansana Pastor Wilson Bugembe said Yiga has been the cause of various bust-ups amongst Born-again pastors for a long time and it is not a surprise he was once again arrested.

“Yiga has always issued controversial statements,” Bugembe said.

Bugembe claimed that putting him behind bars will not save his ‘shallow brains.’ He urged Police to discipline him before setting him free.

“Arresting Pastor Yiga won’t change his shallow brain, caning him is better. He will feel the pain of the canes and he will slowly learn to control his mouth,” Bugembe said.
