Uganda People’s Defence Forces Spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire has warned the public not to tempt security officers while they are on duty.

Karemire said a section of the public has intentionally refused to adhere to the government directives aimed at combating the spread of coronavirus.

“Don’t put our officers in a condition of applying tough measures. Don’t move on boda bodas, respect curfew hours religiously. Stop unnecessary movements and observe social distance. Stop obstructing security forces from doing their work,” Brig. Karemire said on Tuesday morning at the Uganda Media Centre.

Karemire also warned the public on pelting stones to the officers on duty. He gave an example of an LDU officer who was stoned on the eye in Birongo, Masaka.

“Those officers are working tirelessly to keep you safe. Stop stoning them. If you see any of our officers misbehaving report to the right authorities he/she will be punished,” he said.
