Uganda’s two wheeler app SafeBoda has added a feature to enable customers to conveniently make orders for delivery of vital items amid the movement restrictions due to the coronavirus lockdown.

According to SafeBoda, the new feature is to encourage people to support small businesses serving the public so that they can stay home and stay safe.

With the lockdown affecting the Easter shopping, SafeBoda says it is possible to support local businesses by shopping and ordering food via the SafeBoda App.

With the new feature shop, SafeBoda says vendors and customers will have a platform to sell and buy essential goods during this uncertain time while the SafeBoda riders will continue earning an income.

Following the 2 p.m. boda boda curfew, the app will enable customers pre-order their home essentials, food groceries from 1 p.m. and have them delivered the next day.

“With the a ban of all public transport including boda boda working up to 2 p.m., we found an opportunity to continue serving our community, said the mobile tech transport service.

SafeBoda further urged the public to support the local and small businesses that have braved the situation, remained operational and risked their lives so that the country can stay safe.
