As the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenges that are brought about by operating within lockdown and self-isolation are numerous.

Archbishop of Church of Uganda His Grace Stephen Kaziimba has revealed that the challenges have not spared the church either. Speaking during an interview on NTV this morning, Kaziimba said banning of gatherings dealt them a blow.

“We have lost fellowshipping together as believers and the income,” Kaziimba said before quickly revealing that just like other institutions, they have used technology to cope with the current situation.

“We have since learnt to survive using social media and other platforms,” he said.

On the current rising cases of Gender-based Violence during the lockdown, Kaziimba said Uganda has good policies and laws but implementation is still lacking.

“I, therefore, call upon Police to implement what the law says on Gender-based Violence without fear or favour,” Kaziimba said.

He urged the population to turn to God saying; “It is always important to think about the possible repercussions of your actions. That alone could help you to rethink your ways.”
