If you thought it was a casual talk, you may want to think again. The COVID-19 fundraising committee has formally written to all employed Ugandans requesting for Shs10,000 contribution to the COVID-19 fund.

In a letter dated May 12, Chairman fundraising committee Eng. Emmanuel Katongole wrote to all Chief Executives of private organisations requesting them to join and mobilise for COVID-19 funds.

“As good corporate citizens, we would like to request each Chief Executive to extend our appeal to your employees to dedicate part of their May payroll and donate at least Shs10000 each to support the cause,” reads part of the statement.

The committee is said to be targeting 1.5 million employees in Uganda to each donate at least Shs10,000 voluntarily to help in the fight against the pandemic.

In one of the many pressers the committee has held, Katongole said; “If every employed Ugandan contributed sh10,000, this could go a long way to solving many problems that have been brought to our country by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
