In these COVID-19 times, it is easy to forget that there are other diseases that are killing people like malaria, HIV/AIDS, and Tuberculosis (TB) among others since almost all efforts are focused on stopping COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health reminded the general public last week that other health services are still available at all health centres around the country amid this pandemic.

To boost the screening and diagnosis of TB, Bebe Cool’s Amber Hearty Foundation, a charity organization that focuses on finding missing people with TB, awareness about HIV/Aids and related health issues and women empowerment rolled out two TB screening desks at Komamboga Health Center and Kawaala Health Center IV in Kampala.

The cough desks are stationed at the main entrance of these health facilities and their main purpose is to screen persons who come into the health facility for Tuberculosis.

It should be noted that TB treatment is free in all government health facilities in Uganda, and if any of you gets the symptoms like coughing for more than two weeks, sweating during night sleep, and a seemingly never ending fever, you should go to the health center near you for screening.

Bebe Cool was appointed the TB ambassador in Uganda by The Uganda Stop TB Partnership (USTP) in collaboration with their Geneva Partners United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and he has been doing awareness campaigns for the disease.
