People’s Government President Dr Kizza Besigye has revealed that from his four electoral attempts contesting in a presidential race against President Yoweri Museveni, he has learnt that a ballot has no power to oust Museveni.

Besigye claims that the ‘oppressed’ Ugandans who vote have no power to change leaders as the current regime has monopolized controlling everything in the country.

“They control information, institutions of power, and resources,” said Besigye while appearing on NBS TV this morning.

The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President believes that the struggle must focus on the people of Uganda to first regain influence and control over their country.

“The struggle is to return power to the people,” he said.

However, Besigye said that the ‘long walk’ to freedom can only be achieved if the ‘oppressed’ desist from attacking each other.

“The oppressed have no justification whatsoever to turn guns on each other. There should not be any fight between the People’s Government and People Power supporters because we are all oppressed,” he said.

This week Besigye’s People’s Government announced a coalition with Bobi Wine’s People Power. The new formation is dubbed the ‘United Forces of Change’ and it is to unite them ahead of the 2021 general elections.
