Born-again pastors are crying out to the government to reopen places of worship so that religious activities can resume. According to the pastors, COVID-19 has brought several challenges in the lives of Ugandans and it is in such times where they have to seek God for guidance.

Pastor Denis Emonjong of Embassy of God church says pastors have not been spared either in these challenging times. He says fellow pastors are financially struggling to feed their families and other people that depend on them.

“I have over 50 pastors under me and COVID-19 has hit them hard financially. We request the government to open churches as soon as possible,” Emonjong said during an interview on NTV.

He also revealed that social evils have increased because people have nowhere to run to in case they are overpowered by the current challenges.

Emonjong said that churches have structures that can easily implement the required Standard Operation Procedure set by the government.

Several religious leaders have in the recent weeks come out and asked the government to reopen churches because the national motto (For God and my country) clearly indicates their importance.
