In a bid to strengthen and renew efforts to curb the increasing trends of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health is in high-gear preparations at Namboole Stadium COVID-19 auxiliary treatment center.

Preparations are almost finalized and the facility will soon be readily able to take on the task of handling COVID-19 patients.

Today the Ministry of Health has received 210 beds for the supplementary treatment center at Namboole stadium.

“With support from partners, capacity is being enhanced to 1,500 beds. The stadium will serve as a treatment center for asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 cases,” says the ministry.

Uganda is in a worrying stage of fighting the deadly Coronavirus as the ministry has in the past weeks warned about community transmission of the virus especially in Kampala and Wakiso.

Yesterday 128 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed bringing the cumulative total confirmed cases in Uganda to 3,667. Two (2) COVID-19 deaths were also reported from Kampala and Jinja bringing the total COVID-19 deaths to 41.
