Veteran Journalist Andrew Mwenda shocked the nation early last month when he made his intentions known about challenging the National Unity Party leader Bobi Kyagulanyi for the post of party presidency.

However today while appearing on STV, Mwenda revealed that he has zero interest in running for any political office and joining NUP was just a joke.

“I was just joking, I have no interests in ever running for any political office in my life,” said Mwenda

The self-proclaimed old man of the clan said that he went there to see what the people of NUP would do to him.

“I was on NBS Television and said if I went there they would kill me because I think people there are so radical in their beliefs, they think anyone who disagrees with them should be murdered,” said Mwenda

Mwenda said that he never had any intentions of challenging Bobi Wine and was shocked that media took him serious.

last month , Mwenda joined NUP and called for a presidential debate between himself and the party leader Bobi Wine. He had said he wanted to stand against Kyagulanyi and defeat him to be the party presidential flag bearer in the 2021 General Election.
