The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party legal team has started on the course of establishing the reality of the irregularities that marred in their party primaries.

Oscar Kihika, the head of the NRM legal team says his department has in total received 373 petitions from the different aspirants that participated in the recent parliamentary primaries.

Similarly 463 petitions have also been registered from 10 districts that endured violence incidents.

Kihika says starting today on Monday, they expect to start looking into these petitions. However, he reveals that they will first file a notice in the newspapers.

“The notice will help to inform candidates whose triumph is being contested. An ultimatum of three days is set for them to respond,” says Kihika.

Following the violence exhibited in the NRM primaries, some members are threatening to quit while the aspirants want to stand as independents in the forthcoming general elections.
