With the National Unity Platform Kampala Lord Mayor ticket rendered vacant by Hon. Latif Ssebagala, Kampala Woman MP Hon. Nabilah Naggayi has expressed her interest to run for the city Lordship on the NUP Ticket.

Following the reopening of nominations for the position of Lord Mayor by NUP, Nabilah earlier today picked forms from the party headquarters and will be waiting for the vetting committee to confirm her candidature.

This comes after the NUP Lord Mayor Flag bearer Hon. Latif Ssebagala who was chosen over Jose Chameleone quit the race to maintain unity in the opposition.

Incase Nabilah wins the NUP ticket she will be running against her former party member the incumbent Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

“After the 2016 General elections, I made the decision to run for Lord Mayor. You will recall that I attempted to run under my former party FDC but I was blocked very unfairly. I then decided to run independent,”said Nabilah

Nabilah also said that she has been on record supporting the candidature of Hon. Kyagulanyi for the past two years because she believes he represents something new in the struggle and one of the reasons she joined NUP.
