Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala’s endorsement as Kampala Lord Mayor flag-bearer for the National Unity Platform (NUP) is continuing to attract mixed reactions from players in the political arena.

The ruling NRM party secretariat spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa has said that Nabilah’s endorsement should not excite anyone as she’s not bringing anything new in the opposition struggle.

“I do not think Ssempala’s nomination adds any value to the Opposition because she is among the same people that Ugandans have always seen for the past years,” Mulindwa said.

He revealed that such moves are not a concern of the NRM as at the moment they are only focusing on how best they can pull off in the 2021 polls especially reclaiming the country’s capital Kampala.

Nabilah has been a beneficially of Latif Ssebaggala’s decision to pull  out of the Kampala Lord Mayor race even after being handed the NUP flag upon defeating singer Jose Chameleone in the party vetting process.

So far seven candidates are eying to unseat incumbent Erias Lukwago who also declared his intentions to defend the position.

Nabilah (NUP), Chameleone (independent), Beatrice Kayanja (DP), Isaac Ssendagire (Independent), Innocent Kawooya (Independent), Ben Lule (Independent) and Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee (NRM).
