Makerere University unveils financial collection platforms to raise about Shs15b to rebuild the Ivory Tower

The Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe and members of the University management have today unveiled the financial collection platforms for funds towards the restoration of the iconic Main Administration Building- Ivory Tower that was destroyed by the fire.       

While addressing the press conference, Nawangwe said they are looking forward to raising about Shs15 billion from 300,000 alumnus of the oldest institution in Uganda.  

Amongst the official contribution channels are; Stanbic Bank Accounts: 9030017778608 (USD)/ 9030017778535 (UGX) and MTN MoMo pay.

Nawangwe revealed that Dr. Busingye Kabumba- , a lecturer from the School of Law was the first person to financially contribute towards the restoration. He made a Shs1 million contribution on the morning of September 20 – the day of the fire outbreak.

Earlier this week, the Uganda Society of Architects pledged to offer technical expertise in the efforts to restore the Ivory Tower to its former state.
