Forum for Democratic Change Secretary General Nandala Mafabi has asserted that none of the ‘powerful’ existing opposition parties can fight the newly ‘bought’ National Unity Platform party.

Nandala says people who are running in NUP are looking for short term gains especially since the country is preparing for the 2021 general elections.

“If you are in opposition, why are you leaving one opposition party for another? The MPs who have run to NUP, what were the internal contradictions in their parties. Will you keep running away from internal contradictions?” Nandala says.

“NUP is attracting politicians who are looking for survival. They just want to win elections,’ he adds.

He claims that he will only take NUP serious if the resolve to form their own political party and build structures countrywide. As for now, Nandala believes they occupy no political space as they are only in urban areas of Buganda.

“Eventually, NUP will collapse. I have just come from Western Uganda, NUP is not there. Even in Mbale I see no NUP there. It is very bad to assume that you are everywhere,” he claims.
