Former Security Minister and presidential aspirant Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde has said that he will withdraw his candidature if the unfairness against the opposition continues.

Speaking to journalists this morning at his offices in Kololo, Tumukunde said the Electoral Commission and security forces must uniformly enforce the law ahead of the elections. He said the NRM is enjoying a wider political space compared to the opposing candidates.

“People threaten to do things but I can do things. This is the most important election ever and Ugandans must be encouraged to get involved without any threats,” Tumukunde said.

He added, “This doesn’t sound like a good election, everything is out of order but we will try to do our best to reach the new Uganda.”

By press time, Tumukunde and his group accompanied by police were setting off from Kololo to Kyambogo University for nomination. He is expected to be duly nominated at 1pm.
