The National Resistance Movement presidential aspirant, Yoweri Museveni Tibuhaburwa Kaguta has been the first candidate to be duly nominated by the Independent Electoral Commission ahead of the 2021 presidential elections. He will be running for his sixth term.

Museveni arrived at the nomination centre at Kyambogo University play ground in company of his wife First Lady Janet Museveni, NRM Secretary General Kasule Lumumba and Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda among other NRM officials.

Shortly after being duly nominated, Museveni was handed his campaign escort Pick-up before he made a brief address where he encouraged people to maintain peace.

“I am the president, and I hear so many things. I hear there are people who want to destabilize peace. Those who want to do that will regret it,” Museveni said in a brief address.

He also warned the public against the continued complacency in the fight against COVID-19.

“Don’t take this disease carelessly. I hear people in villages saying it is a disease for town. It will reach the villages too, some of the villages are already affected, more will be affected if we are not careful,” he said.

Museveni and the ruling NRM will again today launch their manifesto at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
