For the first time since 2001, former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Dr Kizza Besigye will not feature on the presidential ballot paper. Two months ago, Besigye announced that he will not be standing against incumbent President Yoweri Museveni and he promised to have a Plan B as he continues to struggle for change.

While appearing on NBS TV Morning Breeze show, Besigye said Plan B is all about fighting and in order to fight, he’s on ground preaching unity amongst Ugandans.

“Those asking for Plan B, how did the British leave Uganda? Did they leave willingly?” Besigye asked.

The four-time presidential candidate said if opposition focuses on occupying offices, they will never deliver the country.

“We have missed a huge opportunity already. The best time to unite was during Togikwatako. This was a principle under which the opposition would stop Museveni from being on the ballot,” Besigye said.

On the 2021 presidential elections, Besigye said it’s not an election because it is only going to help those in power to keep it.

“How do you have an election where a Councillor seeking to be elected in a parish be nominated first and given about 4-6 months to campaign but have Presidential candidates seeking to lead the entire country given 60 days to campaign in 146 districts of Uganda,” he said.
