The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has said he’s not running for the country’s top office to make himself powerful but rather reorganize and empower all government institutions.

While campaigning in Wakiso district, Muntu said he represents the change every Ugandan must trust as once voted into office, he will focus on fundamentally restructuring institutions so that the population attains better services.

Speaking to the locals in Mende Parish, Wakiso District, and the former Army Commander was asked whether he will not be corrupted by power to refuse to leave like all the others who have refused to leave power.

“I have a track record which you can base on to trust that I will not be corrupted by power, and that we shall build institutions and systems, and leave a better place for the team that will be coming into power after us,” Muntu said.

He pledged to the people of Lufuka, Ssabagabo-Makindye to improve their long standing problem of drainage as the area has been flooding so badly.

“A responsible government would fundamentally restructure any areas near such channels and lines and have the drainage systems done in a comprehensive way so that water keeps flowing to where it’s supposed to go and not end up flooding other areas,” he said.

“We also have plans for low cost housing to enable everyone live in a decent environment,” he added.
