Over the weekend, reports made rounds announcing the death of Security Minister Gen Elly Tumwine. Through his known social media handles, Tumwine refuted the rumours saying he’s neither hospitalised nor ill.

Tumwine further wondered why Ugandans can wish him death yet he put his life on the line in the liberation struggle that saved Uganda from post-independence unrests.

He reminded Ugandans how he lost his eye in the bush war just because he wanted young people to have peace.

While appearing on NBS TV Morning Breeze today, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago commented on Tumwine’s lost eye. He said his lost eye issue does not apply to the people of this generation.

“Tumwine will remind us of the eye he lost. The generation of today will ask, ” What cost do we have to pay for the eye he lost?” Lukwago said before he stated that the NRA generals in Uganda have made everything in Uganda their personal property including the army.

“Today, we have a personal army, a guerilla outfit. Their behaviour has never changed,” he said.
