MP Nsereko says Ugandans will regret voting out NRM MPs in protest

The recently concluded parliamentary elections saw many National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of Parliament voted out including 23 ministers especially in the central region.

Independent MP Muhammad Nsereko who happens to be one of the few legislators who survived the National Unity Platform wave in Kampala as he retained his Kampala Central MP Seat believes that the NRM MPs were voted out in protest.

Nsereko says that those many might have deserved to be voted out for failure to stand with their people on issues that affect them, a few have genuinely served but the electorate decided to go by the bandwagon.

“I know people will regret the decisions they made on the ballot. They voted out NRM MPs in protest,” says Nsereko.

According to Nsereko, it’s not tribal that NRM candidates including President Yoweri Museveni performed poorly in Kampala and Buganda at large. He says people voted the way they voted because the ruling party has failed to address their challenges especially as far as the economy is concerned.

He has advised government not to take the tribal line because it will further tear the country apart.
