Former presidential candidate Willy Mayambala has disclosed that the 2021 presidential race has left him vulnerable after using all that he had saved to give a shot at occupying the country’s top office.

Mayambala who is an Engineer says that he took the constitutional mandate and resigned from his job to contest in the 2021 polls. He claimed that he spent Shs98 million to collect signatures, then paid Shs20 million for nomination fees and during his campaigns he spent over Shs100 million.

“This election left me poorer because of the financial implication. I resigned my job to contest and now I am jobless, poor and down to earth,” says Mayambala.

However, he believes that the financial implications will not block him from standing again as the issues affecting Ugandans still stand and he considers himself capable of solving them.

“If President Yoweri Museveni is still in power, I consider myself the next President of Uganda,” he says.

In 2021 presidential elections, Mayambala garnered 15,041 votes representing 0.15% of the valid votes cast
