Police in Kawempe are investigating circumstances under which ‘Drone’ car was maliciously set ablaze by residents. The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire says that the burnt vehicle was parked along Kyebando-Bukoto Road at the time of incident.

Owoyesigire says that residents acted on suspicion that the vehicle might be among those famous drones used by security operatives to ‘abduct’ Ugandans.

He explains that a group of people then bought a jerrycan of petrol and burnt the vehicle.

“One suspect has been arrested and will be interrogated about the matter,” he says.

Drones have been lately the talk of town hence attracting a tagline of “Drone gilabe ddukka” which translates that “When you see a drone, just run.” Security operatives have overwhelmingly used the vehicles during and after elections to arrest different political actors.
