Yesterday the Director of Operations in Police, Edward Ochom said that curfew time that’s at 9pm would be extended during Ramadhan, a statement which the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen JeJe Odongo has said was made in error and has already been withdrawn.

Through it’s social media platforms, the police has said that curfew will be observed throughout Ramadhan but serious consideration will be given to all Muslims who are caught up during the curfew time.

“We would like to clarify to the Muslims and the public at large, that the ongoing nationwide curfew, being implemented to curb the spread of the Coronavirus disease, will be maintained through the Holy Month of Ramadan however, serious consideration will be given to all Muslims who are caught up during the curfew time. All our Territorial Commanders are aware of this special arrangement,” stated Police.

The Moslem community through its leaders had requested government to extend or scrap off curfew time during Ramadan.

“I want to inform the Prime Minister that informally, curfew in many parts of this country is not there. I am telling him because he could be living in another island of reality: what we wanted is to officially get the Curfew out of our way,” stated Hon. Ssebagala
