Jacob Oulanyah wins Speakership race

The 11th Parliament of Uganda has today held it’s first sitting and elected the Speaker. The process was chaired by the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny -Dollo Forum for Democratic Change Hon. Ssemujju Nganda got 15 votes while Hon. Rebecca Kadaga who chose to defy her party and stand as an independent got 197 votes.

The National Resistance Movement flag bearer for the Speakership race Hon. Jacob Oulanyah got  310 votes and is now the Speaker of the 11th Parliament. The Chief Justice declared Hon. Jacob Oulanyah the Speaker of the 11th Parliament.

“I announce Hon. Jacob Oulanyah L’okori who obtained the majority votes of 310 the Speaker of Parliament,”said Chief Justice Owiny Dollo.
