With eight days left to the end of the 42 lockdown, a policeman identified as Mwesigye attached to Ddyango Police post, Rakai was on Wednesday beat into coma for enforcing Covid 19 rules.
He was found lying unconscious by the roadside and is currently admitted at Ddyango clinic where he is receiving medical attention.

According to Daily Monitor, Mwesigye is said to have dispersed some youth who were playing football. The angry youth then vowed to ‘teach him a lesson’.
“He dispersed youths at the playground in Rwabaganda town earlier on and they seemed not to be happy. As they ran away, they warned the officer that he was to pay for what he had done,” said one of the residents.

President Museveni, on June 18, 2021, declared a 42-day lockdown in the country as a measure to prevent further spread of Covid-19, as the country grapples with the second wave.
